Once falsely accused of burglary and subsequently locked up with a $70,000 bail, four-time Grammy winning producer / songwriter Bobby Ross Avila is no stranger to the law, and it’s sometimes misjudged authority.
Teaming up with the infamous, King Tech, Avila has now set out to vent his frustration with the police using music as his medium.
The result: “No Apology”, a mesmerizing yet haunting track backed with live instrumentation, with Bobby himself playing the piano and harmonica.
Community activist and M.C., Jasiri X, known for using hip-hop as a way to provide social commentary is the perfect collaborative artist to make this track a homage to those who have grown up in environments where police brutality is rife.
“No Apology” premiered on MTV.com yesterday is the first single of Bobby’s upcoming EP, “BEATS, RIOTS & LIVES.”
Bobby Ross Avila has helped artists such as Usher, Janet Jackson, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Anthony Hamilton, Earth Wind & Fire, Chaka Khan in creating some of their most memorable hits and is now set to return as a solo artist.
